Rome – cobblestone street – May 2012
through a foreign city
with native feet;
the dust footprints
of my great-grandparents
glowed through stone
to guide me

I can’t wait to get overseas, or just out of the continental US since I’ve never left the country. I want to see Rome, Venice, Greece, Puerto Rico, England, Scotland…You know, basically the WORLD!
Nice post… I have never been to Rome, or Europe for that matter, but many friends of family that have travelled abroad absolutely love Rome!
Thank you for sharing!
I’ve been to Europe but have yet to go to Italy, Rome specially. Any time one can travel to parts unknown, it grow us, makes us much more aware of our world, the differences and our heritage.
A trip to Rome is definitely on my bucket list – has been since I was a teenager. Someday.
Oh how much I absolutely adore Rome. It has been almost two years since I visited and I would do anything to go back. I dream about it sometimes at night and am so sad when I awaken in my own bed in the morning. My travel fund is running a little low right now but I’m saving up to make another trip around the Mediterranean.
This is the kind of image that makes you imagine what was and what could be
I so love the streets of such cities! I visited Athens, the Greek Isles, and Istanbul a few years ago and my favorite part of the trip was simply wandering the maze-like streets. I took way too many pictures!
YES! My bucket list has those spots too! And indeed, wayyyyy too many pictures. After paring down, my albums were still over 600 pictures in total for 4 days. =)
Beautiful. What a wonderful way to recall what must have been an amazing trip. I’ve never been but it is certainly a place that inspires ideas and creams.
It’s truly the eternal city. So much ancient history alive in the streets as modern day life happens all around it. Magic!
Wonderful! I too visited Rome a few years ago, and having Italian ancestors I totally feel this poem.
Rome is just so ancient and storied – I fell in love!
